Office 2013 Asks for Password

The problem experienced is generally seen as a Password Asking problem.

Older version Office 2013 users experience the problem of Outlook constantly asking for password, versions released after Office 2013 do not have this problem because they support Modern Authentication by default.

Solution to Office 2013 Modern Authentication Password Asking Problem

When you add the Regedit objects I have shared below to the client, the problem you are experiencing will be solved.

Registry keyTypeValue
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftExchangeAlwaysUseMSOAuthForAutoDiscoverREG_DWORD1
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftOffice15.0CommonIdentityEnableADALREG_DWORD1
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftOffice15.0CommonIdentityVersionREG_DWORD1

For Modern Authentication support for Office 2013, you can enter the keys above manually or prepare a file as I mentioned below.

First, close Microsoft Outlook 2013.

Then paste the following records into the notepad. You can save this file that you have prepared as Office2013_Enable_ModernAuth.reg in a target folder where you can find it.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftExchange]
"AlwaysUseMSOAuthForAutoDiscover"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftOffice15.0Common]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftOffice15.0CommonIdentity]
"EnableADAL"=dword:00000001
"Version"=dword:00000001

After these steps, you can set up Office 2013 applications to use multi-factor authentication (MFA) with Microsoft 365.
